- [Gwsafrica] thank you Muthoni for giving such a thorough over view
of what is happeningin Kenya. Your explanation worries me in
that it essentialises and makes static the ethnic identities,
for example Luo,
Kikuyu. Are you saying Kikuyu's voted strategically for Kibaki and
the Luo for Odinga,
when you and I know that Kibaki's non majimboistic rule or Odinga's
majimboistic one,
would not benefit the common man. I am yet to be convinced either of
these camps is committed to the people when they have not
shown commitment to the largest section of the so called people,
who are the women. Is it not a few inner circle manipulating the anti
majimboism, labelling it Odinga and Luo,
the same happening on Raila's side and labelling it a goal tactic to
keep up the Kikuyu. In other words,
the typically western binary system of woman versus man,
me versus the community that we have seen in Europe and America is
playing out in Africa. My question is are the factions you
have described not inherently patriarchal capital in nature,
forces that are patriarchal and mainly put together for egoistic and
economic benefits and dressed in Luo/Kikuyu names.
