Hon Derek Wyatt, I recently came across a letter addressed to you and other prominent MPs in the British Parliament regarding the current developments in Ethiopian politics. I was, of course , amazed at the sheer lies and deliberate distortions of the factual situation in order to serve the interest of the neo-fascist forces of Ethiopia. To start with the letter was written before the final result of the May 15 election, which was delayed by the confusing tactic of the opposition, and claims as a matter of fact that the ruling party led by PM Melese has '... realized a total defeat at the May 15 election'. The fact remains that the Election Board has declared that the final announcement has been delayed for yet another two weeks, even though preliminary results have shown that the ruling Ethiopian Peoples Revolutionary Democratic Party (EPRDF) has won more than the majority of seats for the Federal Parliament. In a twist of logic unheard of in democratic dialog you have been informed that the voting result is determined not by the Election Board but by projections of Election Monitoring teams. It is true that the ruling party has accepted defeat in the whole of Addis Abeba constituencies without awaiting the certified result by the Election Board. This shows a pattern under which the opposition claims fraud in all constituencies it has lost while accepting its victory in those constituencies it has prevailed. It is true that the government has taken the precaution of banning street demonstrations and public meetings by any group until the final results has been declared and emotions cooled. Despite this precocious measures, the opposition staged a chaotic demonstration in market places and key city locations in their pledge to trigger an "orange" revolution. The resultant damage to property and lives squarely rests on those leaders. Despite the obvious political direction and role of the opposition, the government has agreed for an impartial investigation of the causes and results of these tragic developments in the morrow of an internationally recognized free and fair election in the country. As such we call upon all British MPs to take into account the neo fascist nature of the agitation that is prevalent among the British citizens of Ethiopian origin even though those elements among them who are consistent in their desire to deepen democracy and peace in Ethiopia has not yet been heard of. Hoping for your constructive engagement in the deepening of democracy in Ethiopia, Yours, A fellow MP House of Peoples'Representatives Democratic Republic of Ethiopia Addis Abeba, Ethiopia __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!?
