In a survey of 121 companies/organisations worldwide and 181 leadership
competency models, it was found that 67% of what makes a good leader is
related to emotional competencies emotional intelligence is twice as
important
as intellect and technical skills combined

A study of Fortune 500 companies concluded that EI is directly connected
to high performance:

- For all roles: emotional competence is twice as important as cognitive
abilities
for star performers in all jobs, in every field.
- In technical roles: programmers in the top 10% of EI competence can
develop
effective software three times as fast as those lower in EI.
- In sales roles: study of 44 Fortune 500 firms shows that high-EI
salespeople
produce twice the revenue.
- In leadership roles: study of 15 global companies attributes 85-90% of
leadership
success to EI. At the highest levels, EI accounts for virtually the entire
advantage.
