[SN-ANNOUNCE] The Forum: Opportunity to Participate in IDP Process

TO ALL SANGONeT USERS

OPPORTUNITY TO PARTICIPATE IN IDP PROCESS: GAUTENG PROVINCE

The Gauteng Forum has been invited to comment by the Gauteng Department of
Social Development on the draft IDPs prepared by the Metro Councils and
other municipalities in the province.

The Department is preparing to participate in discussions on the IDPs with
the local authorities during the week starting 21 April 2008, and would like
to bring in civil society perspectives when they do so.

There is also a possibility of NGOs participating directly although this has
still to be confirmed.

This is a new opportunity to contribute a civil society social development
perspective on conditions at community level, and to address issues that
directly impact on the daily lives of those we serve.  Forum members and
other interested people are urged to study the documents concerning their
regions and to submit their comments.

We have been asked to use a specified template for this purpose. Though the
template is designed for government departments; there are some broad items
which can be used to include points that do not fit elsewhere.
