AWARD is an NGO working in Bushbuckridge and the Sand River Catchment in
Mpumalanga that endeavours to develop and test new and appropriate ways of
managing water to address water security in the Catchment. We do so through
research-based enquiry to implementation, and commitment to equitable water
allocation and the livelihood needs of the poorest inhabitants. A new staff
member is needed to work on the Village Water Security Program.
The programme you will be joining promotes collaborative, participatory
planning to increase water security to contribute to more sustainable
livelihoods. Your role will be to work with villagers and local structures
as well as other stakeholders and officials, to facilitate the planning and
implementation of water related interventions. The research orientation
requires that you work as part of a team to plan, implement, reflect on and
document processes and progress to develop collective understanding and
informed action.
Requirements
* Have at least 2 years experience in rural development, environment or
water.
* Have a relevant diploma or degree
* Have good oral and written skills
* Be able to liaise with local communities and stakeholders - be proficient
in English and either isiZulu, Sepedi, XiTsonga, or IsiSwati and
understanding of all
* A drivers licence
* Care about water, environmental and social justice
* Be happy to live and work in rural Mpumalanga
* Remuneration: R8, 500 - R10, 500 per month, depending on skills and
experience.
